In Loving Memory John "Jack" Rooney November 3,1923 - July 9, 2003 We miss him every day, but it's at holidays like St. Patrick's when we even more remember John "Jack" Rooney, devoted husband and great dad. At 6' 2", he'd wear a pin declaring himself the "World's Biggest Leprechaun." He embraced all of the holidays, preparing the Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts - and hauling home a massive Christmas tree that scraped the ceiling. He was a decorated war hero who rose to Lt. Col. in the Marine Corps as a fighter pilot. An advocate of education (Ohio St. and Villanova grad), he was registrar at Sacramento State University and the Santa Rosa Junior College. John "Jack" Rooney, an avid golfer, drove his last golf ball - more than 250 yards and straight down the fairway - in 2003 at the age of 79. His military comrades, coworkers, golf buddies and family truly miss him...and his wickedly Irish sense of humor.
